DECEPTIVE JW ELDERS - CASE#2
by Amazing indeceptive jw elders case#2 .
appointing spiritually qualified men to take the lead and serve as elders and overseers has been a feature of watch tower congregational organization since about 1972. jws were told in talks at conventions, in literature, and finally in the two versions of the organization book that the biblical criteria is used when elders meet to consider some men for appointment as an elder.
jws are also told that these qualified men are already appointed first by holy spirit, and then as the congregation is lead by that spirit to recognize them, the elders meeting is a confirmation of what god has done.

Having gone through much of this.....I am a bit dizzy. Funny, not entirely uninteresting, and generally I suppose I don't really get it.
FM can you help me with one small factoid? Are you a JW or former JW. Just curious.
thanks.

Question about the fade
by The Big Machine ini know there are a lot of threads on here about fading and i've read a lot of them, but i have a question that i haven't found the answer to yet.. what would happen if you move to a new congregation (or at least tell your old congregation that you are moving and to have your records moved), and you don't go to any meetings?
i see lots of the fading strategies say to go to some meetings and show your face until your name is announced.
what exactly happens if you don't go to meetings in the new congregation?.

So technically for it to work properly, you need to go to a couple meetings at the "new" hall. that way things move over seamlessly. You can go to enough that you are considered a weak one. then stop going all together. Wear your pants too high, and shuffle around looking at your belt buckle and eating fritos with dirty fingernails.
You won't get any visits.

Jehovah's Witnesses.
Come for the smiles and love, stay for the threat of being shunned for thinking differently.

My introduction and confession
by elderINewton inwell another big bad elder here just wanting to say sorry.. i'm sorry that so many were treated like crap, and shown that god's love is not to be found around jehovah's witnesses.
i'm sorry that inadvertently i've likely taught many to judge and as such see that racism permeates every corner of the jw world, else why else would someone be of the world, or even inactive.
i'm sorry i sat in on a jc, and voted to df.

Welcome. we have all been there. Leaving is just the beginning. the beginning of freedom. and eventually......you won't even care what others think. You will be too busy living your life. Take care of your family, and stick around here and help others since that is important to you. Your stories, what you have seen, the letters, advise to those leaving......all very evaluable as a member of a board like this.
So if you need support. You are in the right place. If you love to help.....you are also in the right place.

Disfellowshipped at 18
by asensier inyou can probably guess how this story goes.. i began dating a non-witness boy.
he knew i was a baptised witness and understood the consequences i faced for dating him.
we agreed to keep our relationship secret, which was easy considering our 200 mile distance.

So young.
I think most here would say its good you found all of this out now. 18 and living together is rough as well. be careful. And think long term with your decisions.
I agree that you should call yor family and let them know they understand that what they are doing they THINK to be Gods will, but it is in part hat the religion is telling you to break the bonds of family and shun their own daughter, that has you deciding not to be a part of it.
I'm sorry you have to deal with this. Enjoy college. Get educated and get a good job. Be cautious with your relationship, and try to be smart. Forgive your friends, they know not what they do. And research JWs in a way you haven't before. It will help.
Welcome to the board. What is your major going to be?

I find it hard to believe that Terrence Howard isn't awake.
by Island Man infor those who don't know, terrence howard is an actor who has had some exposure to "the truth" and has spoken positively about the jw religion in a past interview saying he would become a jw if he could.. i've started watching wayward pines where terrence howard stars as the town sheriff.
there are some striking cult parallels between the show and some facets of jw cult culture.
~ people who try to leave wayward pines are subject to punishment.

I think when Terrence Howard was interviewed by NPR (what is that....7 years ago?), that he felt the way he said. He was around the LA JW's sometimes. But he isn't interested. Hes not going to be joining anytime soon. -

WT Society Makes Light of Child Abuse Crimes by Portraying them as Cartoons
by flipper ini commented on this on another thread- but i believe this has enough importance to create a thread about this situation in and of itself.
at the current district convention as you know the wt society released a " sophie & caleb " video allegedly warning parents about the dangers of child abuse.
they don't really use the words " child abuse " in the video - but just say if " someone tries to touch you in a manner you aren't comfortable with " and portray it as a cartoon !

I don't know guys......I really don't have aproblem with the video per se. Its meant for small children. How graphic do we want to get. Leave it to the parents to have the discussion. I am like you all disgusted at the double standard, and more by the holier than thou attitude of these guys.
But all in all, i think the people that produced the video did fine. The blog thing, is meant to symbolize a feeling you get when someone says something from what the dad is saying. i just don't feel the outrage. At least not about the video. the fact that it is late, does nothing to change destructive policies, but merely exists as a feather ion there cap to be able to tell the rank and file that they do EVERYTHING they can to educate their children on this matter.......THAT is what has my blood boiling.
Also, elders should have mandatory background checks on a rated system (these systems already exist), and should be mandatory reporters. If not by the Gov, by JW's as a matter of policy.

July Broadcast Denies That JW Children Die Rather Than Have Medical Care
by BluesBrother inanthony morris 3rd delivered the broadcast this month and advised that lies are circulated that they let children die rather than have medical care .
he says this is so inaccurate as to be a boldfaced lie ...... further he says it is "up to the parents to determine what would be the best treatment for their children" .
now, does this mean that parents are really free to make a decision to accept blood for their minor child, if they so choose?

This "isolated event" that "created drama mixed with emotion".......was it perhaps a child dying while refusing a blood transfusion you freaking viper?
